Richard Allen Garrison, 74, of Belle Center, passed away at 11:49 p.m. Friday, Dec. 22, 2017, at Lima Memorial Hospital.
He was born in Columbus, on Jan. 13, 1943, the son of the late Leslie and Goldie Tess Swank Garrison. He is also preceded in death by eight siblings.
He is survived by his wife, Debra Snow Garrison; two sons; Stephen Garrison of Columbus and David Garrison of Lakeview; two daughters, Cheryl (Jesse) Daniels of Lakeview and Kimberly Garrison of Lakeview and Cincinnati; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Charlyne Sloan of the state of Washington; and a brother, Donald Garrison of Mt. Victory, numerous nieces and nephews, and his loving dog, Samantha.
Richard was a United States Army veteran and worked for Super Foods up until his retirement in 1998. He also served as a police officer for Stokes Township for 25 years and was the Police Chief for a number of those years. He also loved to fish and spend time with his family at their cabin in Canada. He was a member of the Indian Lake Moose Lodge 1533 and Fraternal Order of Eagles 3615 of Indian Lake.
Pastor Bryan Meadows officiates a funeral service at 1 p.m. today at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, where visitation is three hours prior to the service. Burial followed in Huntsville Cemetery with military honors provided by the Logan County Veteran Honor Guard.
