Raymond E. Bair, 71, of Lakeview, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2017, in his home. Ray was born Dec. 7, 1945, in Springfield, to the late Robert D. and Constance I. Steinberger Bair. He was also preceded in death by a son, Shaun E. Bair.
He is survived by his significant other, Dina Young; his two daughters, Annette (Keith) Stewart and Andrea Masters, both of Urbana; four grandchildren, Dylan Bair, Cheyenne Masters and Nathan and Jacob Stewart; two brothers, Charles “Chuck” A. (Heide) Bair of Urbana and Robert Tad (Cathie) Bair of Cincinnati; a half-sister, Heidi Miller of Centerville; and nieces, Abby and Angie.
Ray was a 1964 graduate of Graham High School. He retired from Navistar after 30 years, formerly worked for Champaign County Residential Services and owned and operated Sleeping Bair Storage. He was a veteran of the Ohio Army National Guard during Vietnam.
Ray was a member of the Indian Lake Moose Lodge 1533 and former member of Indian Lake Elks and UAW Local 402 of Springfield. Ray was a avid lifelong boater. He enjoyed going to the Florida Keys and working with his hands. He loved being on his boat “NonCents” and spending time with his family and his adopted Indian Lake family and friends.
A celebration of Ray’s life will begin at 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, at Mimi’s at the Lake, 138 E. Main St. Russells Point.
