Robert L. Sheeley, 70, passed away at his residence in Bowie, Md., on Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017.
Born in Bellefontaine, he joined the Army and served in Vietnam in the mid-60s. He was honorably discharged from Ft. Meade, Md., where he met his future wife.
They lived in Maryland for most of their marriage, while raising their beautiful daughter, Tracey. As a long-haul truck driver, he visited every state in the continental USA and Canada. This led him to his ultimate career as a CDL instructor for many federal government agencies and community colleges in Maryland. He enjoyed boating and crabbing with family and friends and playing with his dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Susan; his daughter, Tracey (Eric) Dunn of Bowie, Md., sisters, Kathy (Bill) Blumenschein of East Liberty and Deb (Gary) Sampson of Bellefontaine; his brother-in-law, Jim (Becky) Nieberding of Bowie, Md.; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral Mass is at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, in St. Pius X Catholic Church in Bowie, Md. Calling is from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 16, in Beall Funeral Home, 6512 NW Crain Highway, Bowie, MD 20715.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donating to the Wounded Warrior Project and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, two of his favorite charities.
