Michael Shane Rollins Sr., 41, of Springfield, passed away of an overdose of heroin Saturday, Sept. 30, 2017, in Pittsburgh, Pa.
He was born May 28, 1976, in Springfield, a son of the late Roger and Barbara Yinger Rollins. Michael was the co-founder of Gemini Reliance and was very active in recovery. He had been employed at McKinley Hall for several years. He enjoyed motorcycles and especially riding his Harley.
Survivors include his wife, Ashley Rollins; three children, Sadie Young, Lily Haley and Michael Rollins Jr., all of Springfield; siblings, Gerald Rapp, Roger (Jackie) Rollins, Jamey (Vanessa) Rollins, Sherri (Shane) Mathews, Teresa (Danny) Deiner, Jeff Rollins and Misty (Roger) Sprinkle, all of Bellefontaine, and Dennis (Mary) Rapp, Lorinda (Jeff) Myers, Decinda “Suki” Harris and Charles (Crista Mills) Rollins Sr., all of Springfield; many nieces and nephews; and special friend, Amanda Crace of Springfield.
A memorial gathering is from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, in the UAW Local 402 Hall, 3671 Urbana Road, Springfield, through arrangements by the Jones-Kenney Zechman Funeral Home.
