Elinor L. Korte, 85, of Urbana, passed away at 2 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017, in her residence.
Born on Jan. 9, 1932, in Dayton, she was a daughter of the late Bernard F. and Lucille I. Barbee Siegle.
She married Omer J. Korte on Aug. 31, 1948, and he survives. Elinor was a homemaker all of her life and she and Omer raised five children, Pamela (Terry) Hamisch of New Carlisle, Gary (Joanne) Korte of Bradford, Kimberly (Wayne) Hess of St. Paris, Joseph (Jenny) Korte of Urbana and the late David Korte.
She was a loving grandmother to 24 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, Harold Eickhoff; and a brother, Phil Siegle.
Elinor was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in St. Paris. She and Omer enjoyed square dancing, traveling and spending time at Indian Lake and in Florida.
She also enjoyed quilting, antiquing and gardening.
A funeral mass is at 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 22, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, St. Paris, with Father Matt Lee officiating. Burial is in Spring Grove Cemetery, north Heck Hill Road, St. Paris.
