Betty Jean Schrader, 89, of Belle Center, passed away Wednesday morning, April 19, 2017, at Campbell Place, Bellefontaine.
Betty was born in Rushsylvania on April 9, 1928, to the late Myron “Bud” and Mabel King Hempy. She also was preceded in death by her son, Chris A. Schrader.
Betty married Allie H. Schrader on Sept. 25, 1948, in Belle Center, and he survives, along with a daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Doug Henry of Middleburg; daughter-in-law, Julie Schrader of Russells Point; eight grandchildren, Nicole (Jamie) Schwieterman, Ryan (Erin) Schrader, Molly (Wes) Hall, Whitney Schrader, Heath Kindle, Kevin (Mary) Henry, Kiel (Megan) Henry and Alex Henry; seven great-grandchildren, Sydney, Reed, Maddux, Cooper, Miller, Brock and Elias; two brothers, AM (Connie) Hempy of Rushsylvania and Richard (Joy) Hempy of Chattanooga, Tenn.; and several nieces and nephews.
Betty worked as an administrative assistant for the Logan County Job and Family Services for many years. She was a charter member of the Belle Center Kings Daughters, a 60-year member of the Belle Center Order of the Eastern Star, past member of Belle Center Kiwanis and a member of the Belle Center United Methodist Church. Betty enjoyed reading and spending time with her family.
Calling is from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 23, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Belle Center, and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. Monday, April 24, funeral officiated by Pastor Kevin Smith at the funeral home. Burial is in Fairview Cemetery, Belle Center.
