George H. “Skip” Brodie, 80, of Wapakoneta, died at 12:10 p.m. Friday, April 14, 2017, at Wapakoneta Manor.
He was born Nov. 18, 1936, in Detroit, Mich, a son of George Joseph and Elizabeth Arnold Brodie, who preceded him in death. On April 22, 1957, he married Vedna Reed, and she died March 21, 2000.
Survivors include two children, Mitchell (Rose) Brodie of Wapakoneta and Michelle Simpko of Indian Lake; longtime companion, Kitty Boedicker of Wapakoneta; daughter-in-law, Diane “China” Brodie of Indian Lake; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother, Joseph (Betty) Brodie of Maumee.
He was preceded in death by his son, Michael Brodie.
Skip worked as a labor union representative with Teamsters Union Local 908, Lima. He attended the Fork Union Military Academy and Findlay College and was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Skip attended First United Methodist Church, Wapakoneta, and his memberships included VFW Post 8445, American Legion Post 330 and a life member of the AMVETS Post 333, all of Wapakoneta. He was also a member of Moose Lodge 1533, Indian Lake. His hobbies included traveling, exercising and playing golf in his younger years.
Funeral services are at 3 p.m. Thursday April 20, at Bayliff & Eley Funeral Home, 1102 Lincoln Ave., Wapakoneta, where the family will receive friends beginning at noon. Private family committal is Friday, April 21, in the Memorial Park Mausoleum, Lima.
