Martin Houston “Marty” Johnson, 57, of Zanesfield, passed away Sunday, Nov. 27, 2016, at OSU Medical Center, surrounded by his family after a year-and-a-half battle with cancer.
He was born Nov. 22, 1959, in Owosso, Mich., to the late Otis B. and Mary Frederick Johnson.
He was a 1979 graduate of Bellefontaine High School.
On April 20, 2001, he married Kim Grove, and she survives. They enjoyed spending time together with family and friends. He worked as a custodian for many years. His hobbies included painting, drawing, refinishing furniture and fishing.
Also surviving are two stepsons, Justin (Sherrie Heartline) Board and Tony (Lindsay Nickles) Board; his mother-in-law, May Grove three sisters, Suzan Rouse, Anna (Fred) Temple and Becky (George) Dunnan; one brother-in-law, David Rodgers; one brother, Dan (Rita) Johnson; six grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Bill Grove; brother-in-law, David Rouse; and sister, Carol Rodgers.
The family will greet callers Thursday, Dec. 1, at First Church of God, 1000 E. Brown Ave., Bellefontaine, from 4 p.m. until the memorial service at 6:30 p.m.
