Carl D. Patten, 66, of Sidney, died at 9:48 p.m. Thursday, July 25, 2013, at St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
He was born in Bellefontaine on May 21, 1947, to the late James and Olive Jennings Patten.
On June 5, 1971, he married Kathy Jo Ballentine in Lakeview and she survives, along with sons Don (Megan) Patten and Jason (Angela) Patten, both of Sidney, Mathew (Heather) Patten of St. Marys and James (Emily) Patten of Piqua; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brother, Hugh (Brenda) Patten of Carrollton, Ky.; one niece; and two nephews.
A 1965 graduate of Bellefontaine High School, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran of Vietnam.
He had worked as a machine builder for Stamco Corp. in New Bremen and retired from Ross Aluminum Foundry in Sidney, where he was an inspector.
His favorite pastimes were reading and spending time with his family.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Miller Funeral Home, 1605 Celina Road, St. Marys.
Pastor Tim Smith officiates a funeral at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First Church of the Nazarene, 390 Indiana Ave., St. Marys. Burial with full military honors is at Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton.
