William F. Ashe, 81, passed away at 6:15 a.m. July 7, 2013, at Green Hills, West Liberty.
He was born May 13, 1932, a son of the late James Dewey and Florance H. Ashe.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Bonita, in 1992, and a son, Martin.
Surviving are his wife, Viola; son, David Ashe; two daughters, Cathy (Den) Bergbigler and Christine (Rick) Bergbigler, all of Pennsylvania; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he dearly loved; a stepdaughter Cindy (Richard) Reeves of Bellefontaine; a stepson Bill Millward of Jacksonville, Fla.; several stepgrandchildren; two sisters, Roberta Fogle of New York and Martha Firth of Oregon; a brother, Charles (Gina) Ashe of Fowler, Ohio; a brother-in-law, Lawrence Unbaugh of Xenia; several nieces and nephews; and friends too many to mention.
Bill served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War before a career as a quality assurance inspector for the federal government. He was a member of the American Legion; a lifetime member of the Elks; and a past Master of the Masons.
A quiet friendly man, he enjoyed traveling with Vi and spent summers working for the U.S. Forest Service managing campgrounds in Virginia, Pennsylvania and Indiana along with several winters in Florida camping.
Visitation and memorial services were private for the family.
