Steven L. “Friendly” Friend, 57, of Belle Center, climbed the stairway to Heaven on Wednesday, June 19, 2013, while at The James Cancer Hospital, Columbus.
Steve was born in Bellefontaine on Dec. 28, 1955, to the late Arden S. and Ardath G. Corwin Friend.
On July 12, 2004, he married the former Treva L. Bishop in Russells Point and she survives, along with five children, Tricia (Elvin) Smith, Ryan Nelson, Jimmie (Catalina) Hagedorn, Chris Hagedorn and Nic Hagedorn; two grandchildren, Brianna Blair and Lara Hagedorn; a sister, Lynne (Larry) Snipes; a brother, Bruce (Gail) Friend; and many nieces and nephews.
Steve was a graduate of Riverside High School and attended Ohio Hi-Point JVS. He worked at Honda Automotive Manufacturing for 24 years.
An avid boater, he was a member of the Indian Lake Moose Lodge 1533 and a generous contributor to hospice and the United Way.
Steve was a Friend who lived up to his name. He loved life and lived well. Steve never knew a stranger, a friend to all, he enjoyed seeing everyone. He always made time for anyone and would have given them the shirt off of his back with a smile.
So to our Friend we toast: “Fill to him the parting glass. And drink a health whate’er befalls, and gently rise and softly call, ‘Good night and joy be to you all.’ ”
A celebration of Steve’s life is at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at 9738 Lake Breeze Drive, Belle Center.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Universal Home Health and Hospice Care, 701 S. Main St., Bellefontaine, OH 43311.
Arrangements were handled by Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview, where condolences may be expressed at shoffstallfuneralhome.com.
