William Lee “Bill” Kinney, 56, of Zanesfield, died unexpectedly Saturday, June 1, 2013.
He was born in Bellefontaine on May 1, 1957, to Byron and Elizabeth “Libby” Paynter Kinney.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Libby; and his former wife, Connie Zedeker Kinney.
Survivors include his father, Byron (Betty) Kinney of West Mansfield; his former wife and very close friend, Jill Rife Kinney of West Mansfield; two daughters, Lora (Roger) Stiles of Zanesfield and Amanda (Benjamin) Tessaye of Tennessee; an adopted son, C.J. Arehart; five grandchildren, Tyler, Brayden, Brooklynn, Micah and Gabrieal; his former wife’s children, Derek (Erin) Manville of Roswell, Ga., Kaylee Manville of Westerville and Steven Manville, U.S. Navy, stationed in Yokosuka, Japan; his brother, John (Vicki) Kinney of West Mansfield; two sisters, Susan (Steve) Sampson of Burkburnett, Texas, and Kim (Ralph) Fout of West Mansfield; and several nieces, nephews and friends.
A longtime farmhand with Don Johnson and Wigwam Farms, he was the former proprietor of the West Mansfield Marathon. He attended the Millcreek Church of Christ and was a longtime officer with the West Mansfield Conservation Club.
In his younger years, Bill had served as his daughter’s softball coach and enjoyed tending horses. He will be remembered as a very hard working man who cherished being surrounded by his grandchildren.
Visitation is two hours prior to a funeral at noon Thursday at Mannasmith-Schnurrenberger Funeral Home, West Mansfield, with Jack Knox officiating. Burial is in North Greenfield Cemetery.
