Robert F. Butterman, 88, of New Bremen, formerly of Lakeview and Marion, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013, at Elwood Nursing Center, New Bremen.
He was born in Marion on March 1, 1925, to the late Ora E. and Clara I. Fleming Butterman.
In 1962, he married the former Violet M. Bland and she preceded him in death in 1987. He then married Elizabeth A. McClaskey in 1990 and she died in 2001. He also was preceded in death by a stepson, Fred Bland; stepdaughter, Wanda McGlone; three brothers, Stanley Butterman, Richard Butterman and Merill Butterman; and two sisters, June Wilson and Ellen Smith.
He is survived by three stepdaughters, Katherine Borders of Delaware, Ohio, Nora (Jay) Kitzmiller of New Bremen and Jeri (George) Brown of Muncie, Pa.; four stepsons, William (Donna) Bland of Wharton, Raymond (Julia) Bland Of McCutchinville, Andy (Brenda) Blevins of Marion and Mike (Ruth) Blevins of Mineral Bluff, Ga.; 11 stepgrandchildren; numerous great-stepgrandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Dutton of Alliance.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion and AMVETS. He was a machinist for 40 years at the Marion Power Shovel.
A graveside service is at 1 p.m. Monday at Bethel Cemetery in McCutchinville. The Boyd-Born Funeral Home in Marion handled arrangements.
