Gilmore “Gil” Hannah, 88, of Piqua, formerly of Lakeview, passed away Friday, April 19, 2013, at Lima Memorial Health System, Lima.
He was born in Knox County, Ind., on July 17, 1924, to the late Joel and Wilma Gilmore Hannah.
On Feb. 7, 1946, he married the former Betty M. Barcus in Dayton and she preceded him in death Feb. 6, 1999. He also was preceded in death by three daughters, Lois Ann Willett, Wilma Jean Hannah and Mary Ellen Gwin, and brother, James M. Hannah.
Survivors include his grandson, Jeremy (Virginia McBee) Stacy of Dayton; great-grandson, Brandon Stacy; and many close friends.
A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he retired as a supervisor for the U.S. Postal Service in 1972.
A member of the Dayton Masonic Lodge 147, Antioch Shrine and Bellefontaine Commandry, he was a life member of the Roundhead VFW Post 8832 and was a member of the Indian Lake Eagles 3615, where he was a past state officer.
Visitation is two hours prior to an Eagles service at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, Belle Center. Burial follows at Fairview Cemetery, Belle Center, with military honors provided by the Logan County Honor Guard.
