Charles Luther Blumenschein Jr., 88, of rural Bellefontaine, died at 12:34 a.m. Sunday, March 17, 2013, at Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.
He was born in West Liberty on March 30, 1924, a son of the late Charles Luther Sr. and Viola Elizabeth Stayrook Blumenschein. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Gene E. Blumenschein.
He is survived by two sisters, Eleanor (Donald) Hamburger of Bellefontaine and Isabel (Russell) Evans of Springfield; and several nieces and nephews.
A lifelong farmer, he was a member of Stony Creek Church of the Brethren, a U.S. Army veteran of War World II and a member of the Miami Valley Post 652, American Legion, DeGraff.
Pastor Wayne Downing officiates a graveside service at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Philadelphia Cemetery, Bellefontaine. No calling hours are planned.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Stony Creek Church or the Gideons International.
