Rosalie Jones


Rosalie Jones, 85, of West Mansfield, died Thursday, March 14, 2013, at Heartland of Bellefontaine, with her family at her side.

She was born in West Mansfield on March 30, 1927, to the late Myron and Eva Maris Green.

On Feb. 8, 1945, she married Donald William Jones in Vicksburg, Miss., and he preceded her in death March 20, 2003. She also was also preceded in death by a daughter, Cheryl Bass; a son-in-law, Gary Cook; two sisters, Elsie Trump and Marciline Green; and her brother, Myron Deryl Green.

Survivors include three daughters, Marcia (Steve) Tennant, Kaye Cook and Kathryn (Larry) Lewis, all of Bellefontaine; two sons, John (Sue) Jones and Kent (Kathy) Jones, both of West Mansfield; 16 grandchildren, Jill (Kirk) Sanvoss, Matt (Shelley) Tennant, Erin (Jeremy) LeVan, Vicki (Van) Harvey, Shannon (Jimmy) Berner, Ty (Carrie) Cook, Travis (Cherice) Teets, Angie Bruce, Dustin (Kelly) Plikerd, Denton (Casey) Plikerd, John (Betsy) Jones, Bill Jones, Kea (Darren) Lewis, Kyle (Jen) Jones, Kurtis (Ashley) Jones and Kasey Jones; four stepgrandchildren, Lisa (John) Thompson, Scott (Carmen) Lewis, Chris Lewis and Anne Lewis; 32 great-grandchildren; many friends and neighbors; and her church family.

A hard-working farmer’s wife, Rosalie was a beloved mother and a treasured grandmother and great-grandmother.

Salutatorian of the Byhalia High School Class of 1945, she formerly served as the activities director at Logan Acres for eight years and was a faithful member of the North Greenfield United Methodist Church, where she served as trustee and adult and children’s Sunday School teacher. She was a member of the Starlight Circle of Kings Daughters and a volunteer with Logan County Weekday Religious Education.

Rosalie enjoyed sewing, reading, ceramics, and baking and will be remembered for her wonderful pies. Her family is comforted by many years of happy memories and by the knowledge that Rosalie is at peace in Heaven.

Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Monday at Mannasmith-Schnurrenberger Funeral Home, West Mansfield. The Rev. Max Jackson officiates a funeral at 11 a.m. Tuesday at North Greenfield United Methodist Church. Burial is in Byhalia Cemetery.
