Gertrude Ethel Shaw, 80, of North Lewisburg, passed away Tuesday, March 12, 2013, in Heartland of Marysville.
She was born March 13, 1932, in North Lewisburg, a daughter of the late Alton and Ethel Coder Watts. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Paul J. Shaw; daughter, Linda Ward; son, Robert Shaw; daughter-in-law, Carlene Shaw; sister, Ruth Shirk; and brother, Howard Watts.
She is survived by her children, Ricky Shaw of Zanesfield, Mary Shaw of Missouri, Don Shaw of Marysville, Ron (Lisa) Shaw of Jacksonville, N.C., Paula (Ralph) Wagner of Fremont, Neb., and Tim Shaw of North Lewisburg; 14 grandchildren, including Russell (Alicia) Ward of Westerville; numerous great-grandchildren; brother, Jack (Mary) Watts of Urbana; numerous nieces and nephews; and her longtime friend, Maggie Picklesimon.
A graduate of Middleburg High School, she retired from Union County after more than 25 years of service. Gertrude loved sewing, flowers, gardening, playing cards and bingo with her friends at Cherry Arbors.
Visitation is one hour prior to a funeral at 2 p.m. Friday in the Freshwater, McDonald & Vernon Funeral Home, North Lewisburg. Burial follows in Maple Grove Cemetery, North Lewisburg.
