Talitha Alice Smith, 92, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2013, in Melbourne, Fla.
She was born in Bellefontaine on Oct. 20, 1920, to the late Raymond and Clorinda Hill Miller. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Smith Sr.; brother, Perry; and sisters, Jean and Phyllis.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Charles F. (Betty) Smith Jr. of Palmetto, Fla., Patricia A. (William) Furlong of Palm Bay, Fla., George R. (Lorraine) Smith Sr. of Mt. Laurel, N.J., and Steven D. (Deborah) Smith of Riverview, Fla.; grandchildren, Laura, Dale, Phillip, Brian, George Jr., Katrina, Joshua, Stephanie, Matthew, Sarah, Tyler and Rebecca; 21 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Talitha moved to Lee County in 1960 from Upper Sandusky and was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary.
She retired after 27 years as an assistant librarian for the Ft. Myers Public Library and was a volunteer librarian at J. Colin English Elementary School, as well as volunteering for church work throughout her life.
Talitha was also very active at the Glenbrooke Retirement Center.
Visitation is one hour prior to a funeral at 11 a.m. Friday at Guiding Light Community Church, 1360 Touchstone Road, North Ft. Myers, FL 33903. Interment is in Fort Myers Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Fort Myers.
