David Eugene Shotts, 60, of Quincy, passed away Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at his home.
He was born in Logan County on March 26, 1952, to the late Tom and Ernestine Fraley Shotts. He also was preceded in death by his aunt, Mildred Nuss; and uncle, Melvin Nuss.
On March 17, 1984, he married the former Debra Cron in Maplewood and she survives, along with two daughters, Heather Shotts of DeGraff and Christina Shotts of Quincy; two grandsons, Keaton and Konnor; three sisters, Marilyn (Jeff) Plikerd of Belle Center and Shirley (Fran) Darcy and Sharon Oats, both of Lakeview; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A 1971 graduate of Indian Lake High School, he also graduated from Diesel Tech Institute. He retired from Allied Systems in 2012 and formerly worked for Super Foods.
He was a member and former youth leader of Maplewood United Methodist Church and was active with AWANA in Logansville. He also was a member of the National Rifle Association, J.I. Case Collector’s Association, Logan County Poultry Committee and Teamsters.
He enjoyed working on his tractors, hunting and shooting, reading, traveling and was a history enthusiast.
A Christian father, grandpa and husband, he loved spending time with his family and taking his grandsons for rides on the tractor and golf cart.
Pastor Bill Halter conducts a funeral at 2 p.m. Sunday at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview, where visitation is from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday. Burial is in Huntsville Cemetery.
