Windy Jo Rich Papich, 44, of Humble, Texas, passed away peacefully in her sleep Jan 29, 2013, after losing her long courageous battle with melanoma.
She was born in Columbus on Feb. 16, 1968. She lived in Ohio, North Carolina, Tennessee, and lastly Texas.
She was preceded in death by her father John A. Rich Jr.; maternal and paternal grandparents, Fred and Ruth Smothers and John and Dorthy Rich; and an uncle, Ed Cooperider.
She is survived by her partner, Glenn Austerfield; sons, Joshua Rister and Steven Rister; daughter, Alex Blair; granddaughter, Zoey Rister; grandson, Caleb Rister; mother and stepfather, Catherine and Gary Law; brother, John Rich III; sister, Sandy (Frank) Sargent; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews; and two stepsisters.
Windy attended high school at Rutherford B. Hayes in Delaware, Ohio, and currently was employed at ABB as a project management coordinator.
She loved traveling and took great pride in her family.
According to Windy’s wishes, there is no funeral service. The family will host a celebration of life from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, her birthday, at All Occasions Catering, 6989 Waldo-Delaware Road, Waldo.
The family expresses their gratitude to the doctors and the staff at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center for the excellent care provided to Windy.
