Mildred A. “Millie” Swaidner, 96, of Bellefontaine, passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Green Hill Community, West Liberty.
Millie was born in Bellevue, Pa., on Dec. 8, 1916, to the late J. Clyde and Mary Pitzer Amon.
On April 4, 1941, she married Arthur W. Swaidner in Pennsylvania and he preceded her in death May 28, 1998. She also was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Swaidner; two brothers; and two sisters.
Surviving are her children, James A. (Renda) Swaidner of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jo Anne (Stephen) Snyder of Bellefontaine; two sisters, Helen A. Bright of Fallbrook, Calif., and Mary Jane (Harry) Sheppard of Hermitage, Pa.; five grandchildren, Eric (Claire) Swaidner of Colorado Springs, Jeremy Swaidner of Moscow, Russia, Ashley (Mark) Gonzales of Colorado Springs, Lori (Brian) Salyer of Bellefontaine and Luke (Marcie) Snyder of Bellefontaine; great-grandchildren, Jared and Jacob Salyer, Ethan Swaidner, Madison Snyder and Lauren Gonzales; great-stepgrandchildren, Jason Jones, Alicia and Kayla Cunningham; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Millie resided in Wapakoneta for 50 years and she was active in the Wapakoneta Women’s Club, Junior Service League and Helen Hunt Circle, and a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she loved singing in the choir.
After the death of her husband, she moved to Bellefontaine, where she became a member of the First United Presbyterian Church.
For the last six years of her life, she resided at the Green Hills Community, where she was fairly active making many new friends — they were her West Liberty “family.”
Visitation is two hours prior to a memorial service at 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 22, at Green Hills Community Chapel. A graveside service begins at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wapakoneta.
