Robert R. Groves Sr.

Robert R. Groves Sr., 84, of Lakeview, died at 1:55 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 20, 2013, at Heartland of Indian Lake.

He was born in Akron on Feb. 7, 1928, to the late Dale L. and Ethel Eva Steward Groves.

On Nov. 1, 1947, he married the former Gloria Ann Shook, who died Dec. 25, 2001. He also was preceded in death by a son, Robert R. Groves Jr.

Survivors include two sons, Ronnie L. (Vicki) Groves of Lima and Richard L. “Rick” (Cynthia) Groves of Wapakoneta; a daughter, Diane Lynn (Michael) Brodie of Russells Point; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Groves was a truck driver, and an agent and president for Teamsters Union Local 908 of Lima.

He was a member of the Elks Lodge 54, Eagles Lodge 370 of Lima, Eagles Lodge 3615 of Indian Lake and the Moose Lodge 1533 of Indian Lake.

No public services are planned.
