James Michael Payer, 38, of Ridgeway, died Dec. 3, 2012.
He was born in Kenton on March 10, 1974, to John “Mike” Payer, who is deceased, and G. Jill Candler Payer, who survives in Ridgeway.
On June 26, 1999, he married the former Christine Seimet and she survives in Ridgeway, along with his children Emily Irene, Joseph Michael and Kyle James Payer, all of Ridgeway; a brother, John Marshall Payer of Ridgeway; sister, Jerica Diantha Payer of Ridgeway; father- and mother-in-law, Charles and Debbie Seimet of Belle Center; brother-in-law, Charles (Janise) Seimet; his children, Charles Jr. and Breanna of Belle Center; sister-in-law, Kathy (Troy) Hangholt; her daughter Abbagail of Lakeview and Kelly (Christopher) Zapata; her children, Austin and Conner of Russells Point; uncle and aunt, Jim and Judi Candler of Ridgeway; and cousins, Phylissa (Shane) Newland, Henry Newland and James Richard (Melissa) Candler.
He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents, Gerald and Mabel Candler and John and Clara Belle Payer.
An associate of Honda Transmission in Russells Point, he was a member of Ridgeway United Methodist Church and coached football, summer softball, T-ball, and flag football at Ridgemont and Upwards basketball in Kenton.
Jim was an exceptional man, a wonderful husband, father, son, and brother, and was loved by his community. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Father Pat Sheridon officiates a funeral at 11 a.m. Friday at the Mt. Victory United Methodist Church, with burial in Hale Cemetery. Visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Price Funeral Home in Mt. Victory.
Memorial contributions may be made to a trust fund for his children at Home Savings and Loan in Kenton; the Little Gopher Association; or RYSSA.
