Florence M. Brown

Florence M. Brown, 94, formerly of Piqua, died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2008, surrounded by her family at the home of her daughter in Sidney.

She was born in Richmond, Ind., on March 16, 1914, a daughter of the late Charles Henry and Clara Daisy Caldwell Norris.

On Aug. 14, 1937, she married Earl J. Brown, and he preceded her in death Nov. 26, 1986. She also was preceded in death by three brothers, nine sisters and a son-in-law, Herschel Morris Jr.

Survivors include two sons, Rollin (Judy) Brown and Gary (Betty) Brown, both of Piqua; three daughters, Marilyn (Gene) Johnson of Sidney, Phyllis Morris of DeGraff and Delores (Jerry) Hicks of Tipp City; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She attended Piqua City Schools and had worked as a seamstress at both Stouder Hospital and the Superior Underwear Company. She was a member of Greene Street United Methodist Church.

The Rev. George Gnade conducts a funeral at 10 a.m. Monday at Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home, Piqua, where calling is from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday. Burial is in Forest Hill Cemetery.

Olive Rudasill

Olive Rudasill, 89, of Bellefontaine, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008, in Heartland of Bellefontaine.

She was born on a farm near Rushsylvania on May 30, 1918, a daughter of the late Richard T. and Mary D. Ansley Patrick.

On Oct. 15, 1938, she married John E. Rudasill in Rushsylvania and he died Dec. 17, 1997. She also was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Stevens; and brothers, Nelson, Ansley, Millard and Joe Patrick.

Survivors include a daughter, Judith “Judy” (David) Vassar of Bellefontaine.

A member of the First Christian Church, she worked at Hopewell Dairy, 10 years at Bulldog Electric (Siemens) and 18 years as a cook at Southeastern Elementary School, from which she retired.

The Rev. Michael Valentine conducts a funeral at 11 a.m. Friday at Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine, where calling is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and one hour prior to the funeral. Burial is in Rushsylvania Cemetery.

Robert Kinsman Skinner

Robert Kinsman Skinner, 87, of Brookville, passed away Friday, May 9, 2008, after a brief illness.

He was born in Bellefontaine, a son of the late Guy and Anne Swartz Skinner. He was a longtime resident of Englewood.

A World War II veteran, he earned his electrical engineering degree from the University of Cincinnati and worked several years at Aero Products in Vandalia and later retired from Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in 1980.

As an active member of Concord United Methodist Church, he served for many years as church treasurer and on various committees and boards.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Eva Caldwell Skinner; daughter, Ruth (Don) Simon of Clayton; sons, John (Joyce) Skinner of Englewood, Steve (Christine) Skinner of California and Dave (Cherie) Skinner of Gahanna; sister, Gladys VanNess; brother- and sisters-in-law, Calvin and Charlotte Caldwell and Beatrice Froebe, all of Bellefontaine, and Annabelle Caldwell of Wooster; eight grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

The Rev. Dr. Tom Rand conducted a funeral today at the Concord United Methodist Church in Englewood. Interment was in Concord Church Cemetery.
