Robert W. Omlor, 83, of Indian Lake, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, Aug. 31, 2014, surrounded by family at Heartland of Indian Lake.
Bob was born Sept. 3, 1930, to the late Cletus and Irene Pleiman Omlor. He also was preceded in death by his brother, Donald; and sister, Joanne Reiner.
He is survived by two nieces, Carol (Timothy) Haley and Catherine (Robert) Finger; his brother-in-law, Raymond Reiner; many cousins; and great- nieces and nephews.
Bob was a native Daytonian, graduating from Our Lady of the Rosary in 1944 and Parker High School in 1948.
A United States Army veteran, he served in Korea from 1951 to 1953.
He was employed at NCR for 30 years and retired from the Montgomery County Auditor’s Office in 1993.
Bob began spending his free time at Indian Lake as a young man and moved there full-time upon retiring in 1993. He was fully involved in the social life of fishing, boating, bowling, golfing (scoring his first hole-in-one at age 81) and activities with The Landing and Acheson’s Resort.
Father Matthew Lee leads a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 3, at St. Mary of the Woods Catholic Church, Russells Point, with visitation one hour prior. Burial is in Dayton Calvary Cemetery. A memorial mass also will be conducted at Our Lady of the Rosary in Dayton at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Indian Lake Watershed Project, 324 County Road 11, Bellefontaine OH 43311; or the charities of the donors’ choices.
