John F. Capen Jr., 80, of Bellefontaine, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014, at the Kindred Hospital, Lima.
He was born in Springfield on Jan. 22, 1934, to the late John F. and Susan Shaw Capen.
Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Tester Capen; a son, Jerry (Kelly) Capen of Doylestown; a grandson, Cody Capen of Wadsworth; two sisters, Carolyn Knight of Xenia and Mary Jane (Bud) Day of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews.
An electrician, John was a U.S. Navy veteran. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Logan County Cancer Society, c/o Mary Rutan Foundation, 205 Palmer Ave., Bellefontaine OH 43311; and the American Lung Association, 1301 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, Suite 800, Washington, DC 20004.
