Robert E. Ellison Sr., 80, of Quincy, passed away at 8:01 p.m. Tuesday, July 29, 2014, at St. Rita’s Medical Center.
He was born in Middleburg, Ky., on April 5, 1934, to the late John and Louise Bolton Ellison. He also was preceded in death by two sons, Jerald and Robert Ellison; a sister, Betty Moore; and four brothers, Bill, Ed, Pete and Fred Ellison.
On Dec. 11, 1954, he married the former Magdalene R. Robinson and she survives, along with two sons, John (Wanda) Ellison and Ray Ellison, both of Quincy; seven grandchildren, Barbara, John R., Shannon, Shauna, Nikki, Renee and Jessie; 10 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carolyn (Bob) Rightler of Tennessee and Shirley (Jack) McGee of Baltimore, Md.; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws.
Robert retired from Copeland, where he worked in maintenance. He also owned Ellison’s Welding and enjoyed working on cars, fishing and hunting.
Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes St., DeGraff, where a funeral is at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2. Burial is in Fairview Cemetery, Quincy.
