Margaret “Peg” McGinnis, 73, of Waynesfield, died at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014, at her home.
She was born on Feb. 8, 1941, in Nobel County, Ind., to the late Banner Pierce and Cecil Pooler Haney. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Collette Linker McNelis, and a sister, Hannah Elizabeth Kilgore.
On Oct. 22, 1988, in Lima she married Keith A. McGinnis and he survives, along with sons, Kevin (Kim) Linker, of Ft. Wayne, Ind., Jamie McGinnis and Brent (Emily Martineau) McGinnis, both of New Smyrna Beach, Fla., and Brett (Sandie) McGinnis of Ormand Beach, Fla.; daughters Kellie (Randy) Ater of Virginia Beach, Va., and Shellie (Jeff) Sweet of Flagler Beach, Fla.; son-in-law, Dan McNelis of Columbus; brothers, Allen (Virginia) Haney of Kendallville, Ind., Roy Wallace Haney of Muncie, Ind., and Robert Charles (Judy) Haney of Wolcottville, Ind.; sister, Bertha Alice Kelley of Kendallville, Ind.; brother-in-law, David (Michelle) Kilgore; eight grandchildren, Ben, Erin, Shawn, Brooks, Paul, Travis, Heath and Gavin; and six great-grandchildren.
Peg was a 1959 graduate of Kendallville High School, a homemaker and a very active member of the Waynesfield United Methodist Church, where she served on the Missions Commitee.
Funeral services begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Armentrout Funeral Home, Waynesfield, with Rev. Kathleen Hayes officiating. Burial will follow at Roundhead Cemetery. Calling is from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
