Wayne D. Weikart, of Shallotte, N.C. died Monday, June 30, 2014.
Wayne was born in Salem on July 13, 1942, to Catherine Weikart of Ohio and the late W. Dean.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 44 years, Judith Weikart of Shallotte; sons, Douglas of Shallotte, and Daniel (Anne) of Alexandria, Va.; and two grandchildren, Sydney and Benjamin; brother, Thomas (Cindy) Weikart of Bellefontaine; and sisters Cathy (Tom) Fitzsimmons of Springfield and Susan Weikart of West Liberty.
Wayne was a longtime employee of Rochester Instrument Systems in Rochester, N.Y. He also worked with and supported Troop 9 of the Boy Scouts of America in Penfield, N.Y. Recently he worked with SEC of America in Durham, N.C.
He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force.
A memorial service was July 12 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Southport, where Wayne was a member.
Graveside services and a memorial service is at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at Jennings Farley Funeral Home, 5591 S. U.S. Route 68, West Liberty.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Endowment Fund at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4843 Southport Supply Road SE, Southport N.C. 28461, or the American Cancer Society Relay For Life.
