Gilbert “Jack” Lautzenheiser Jr., 78, of Lima, passed away at 8:15 a.m. Monday, July 7, 2014, in his home.
He was born in Lima on April 1, 1936, to the late Gilbert John Sr. and Alice Louise Miorin Lautzenheiser. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Lautzenheiser; sister, Sue Lautzenheiser; and two brothers-in-law, Glenn Kerr and Gary Tabler.
On March 13, 1976, he married Patricia Ann Layman, who survives in Lima, along with six children, Broyke A. (Steve) Eversole, Cheryl K. (Don) Weber and Kenny Lautzenheiser, all of Lima, Steve (Mary) Lautzenheiser of Arizona, Dave (Sharon) Lautzenheiser of Wapakoneta and Rachael (Ed) Walters of California; seven grandchildren, including Riley, Jackson and Lane Weber and Shelby Eversole; and one great-grandson; two brothers, William Lautzenheiser of North Carolina and Richard (Linda) Lautzenheiser of Indian Lake; a sister, Jan Kerr of Findlay; and a half-sister, Vicky Tabler of Lima.
A 1954 graduate of St. Rose Catholic High School, Jack worked in the tire business more than 50 years, retiring from Easter Tire. He had been a school bus driver for Bath Schools for 38 years.
Mr. Lautzenheiser was an airplane enthusiast, and was a licensed pilot for more than 40 years. He was a member of the Short Wing Piper Club, Young at Heart Toy Club, and the F.O.P.A.
Pastor Tom Shobe officiates a service at 10:30 a.m. Friday, July 11, at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Eastside Chapel, where visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 10. Burial is in Gethsemani Cemetery.
