Phyllis Ann Doup, 67, of Lakeview, died Friday, June 27, 2014, at her home. She was born March 22, 1947, in Marion to the late Clayton and Daisy Richardson VanGorden.
On April 27, 1968, she married James Doup, and he survives in Lakeview.
She was a very loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, who doted on her grandchildren and great-granddaughter. A kind and gentle soul, Phyllis always had a positive outlook on life. She was a person of strong faith and always kept her Bible near.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Amy (Jack) Kirby of Richwood; two grandsons, Nathan (Brittany) Kirby of Prospect and Tyler Kirby of Richwood; a great-granddaughter, Savannah Kirby of Prospect; three brothers, Richard (Carol) VanGorden, James (Goldie) VanGorden and John VanGorden, all of Marion; three sisters, Mary Sherman, Gloria Meddings and Debbie (Tom) Jolliff, all of Marion; and her faithful dog, Chloe.
Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Stofcheck-Ballinger Funeral Home, Richwood, where calling is two hours prior to the service.
Pastor Richard VanGorden officiates and burial is in Claibourne Cemetery.
