Jack L. Godwin, 86, of Bellefontaine, passed away Saturday morning, June 21, 2014, at The OSU Wexner Medical Center, Columbus.
Jack was born in Huntsville on March 7, 1928, to the late Jacob L. and Erma Neal Godwin. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Max Godwin and Carl Godwin.
In 1955, he married the former June Conklin and she survives along with two sons, Jeffrey L. (Paula) Godwin of Heltonville, Ind., and John P. Godwin of Harpers Ferry, W.Va.; three grandchildren, Abigail, Josiah and Jedidiah; a brother, Wayne (Velva) Godwin of Bellefontaine; a sister-in-law, Norma Godwin of Belle Center; and several nieces and nephews.
A 1946 graduate of Huntsville High School, Jack was a United States Army veteran, serving in Korea from 1950 to 1952.
Jack retired from the Logan County Highway Department in 1985. He later worked for the Ohio State Patrol and AcuSport Corp. in Bellefontaine.
He enjoyed working around the house, especially yard work and gardening.
Per Mr. Godwin’s wishes, his body was cremated. The Rev. Jonathan Bull begins a graveside service in Huntsville Cemetery at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 28, with military honors performed by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
