Robert E. “Bob” Crockett, 81, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 11:10 a.m. Sunday, April 20, 2014, at Campbell Place, Bellefontaine.
He was born in Green Castle, Ind., on Nov. 29, 1932, to the late John and Lora Mae Tedder Crockett. He also was preceded in death by a brother, Wayne Crockett.
On Dec. 31, 1956, he married the former Lanetta Hollstein in Angola, Ind., and she survives, along with two sons, David (Sherri) Crockett of Bellefontaine and Darrell (Kris) Crockett of Lewistown; four grandchildren, Andrew, Nickolas, Kurttis and Kassidy Crockett; a brother, Paul Crockett of Marysville; brothers and sisters-in-law, Phil and Sandra Siegel of Michigan and Keith and Gay Hollstein of Tennessee; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
A farmer, Robert was a 1952 graduate of Florence-Edon High School. He served in the U.S. Army from Aug. 24, 1954, to Aug. 15, 1956, during which time he earned the Army of Occupation Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Charles R. Collins Post 381 American Legion in Huntsville.
Robert enjoyed attending auctions and watching his grandkids play sports.
Pastor Kenn Barton officiates a funeral at 6 p.m. Thursday at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes St., DeGraff, where visitation is from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday. Burial is in Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff, with military rites by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
