Florence “Tootie” Irene Vance, 84, of Summerfield, Fla., passed away Friday, April 18, 2014, at Oakhurst Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Ocala, Fla.

Mrs. Vance was a native of Zanesfield and moved to Belleview, Fla., from Columbus in 1994.

She worked for Charles Shanklin in Columbus in the aeronautical industry and also was a union stewardess at the former Bulldog Electric in Bellefontaine.

She was a member of Zanesfield United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Ray Vance; and infant granddaughter; parents, Clarence N. Hockett and Edna Blanche Maxson Hockett; brothers, Nathan and Kenneth Hockett; sister, Sarah Carpenter; niece, Thelma Hughes; and nephew, James Carpenter.

Survivors include two grandchildren, Michael and Mark Vance and two great-granddaughters, all of Columbus; nephew, Joe (Maggie) Carpenter of Summerfield, Fla.; and nieces, Hellyn (Larry) Parker of Bellefontaine and Ellyn (Tom) Laing of West Liberty.

Cremation will take place in Florida and burial is in Zanesfield Cemetery.
