Ioda B. Wickliff, 86, of Bellefontaine, passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014, at her home.
She was born in Cincinnati on May 22, 1927, to the late Samuel C. and Celestia Baker Gooch. She also was preceded in death by three sisters, Evelyn Gooch, Reba Frazier and Jewel Foraker; and brothers, William Gooch and Albert Gooch.
Ody retired in 2011 at the age of 84 from Logan County Jobs & Family Services as a clerical specialist. She also was an Avon representative for nearly 50 years.
Ody was a fantastic cook and enjoyed sharing those talents with others. She had a zest for life, a passion for dancing, and was admired by all who knew her. The family would like to thank all her dear friends for the support and companionship over the years. Ody will be sadly missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda (David) Fairclough of Swanton; sons, Monty (deceased wife, Arnena) Hamilton of Lima and Dion (Sue) Wickliff of Zionsville, Ind.; six grandchildren, Tammy Ludwig, Tina (Jeffery) Hamilton-Shoemaker, Bethany Hamilton, Christy (Daniel) Tennessen, Monica Hamilton and Matt (Rachel) Beauchamp. She was known as “Grandma the Great” to 15 great-grandchildren and also is survived by a sister, Alma Talbott of Hedgesville, W.Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine. Graveside services are at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Lima.
