Janis Marie Barrett, 74, of Bellefontaine, passed away Tuesday evening, April 8, 2014, at Green Hills Community, West Liberty.
She was born in Pomeroy on March 13, 1940, to the late Alfred and Lily Landecker Deck. She also was preceded in death by a son, Danny Goins; stepsons, Richard and Gillan Goins; and a sister, Joan Rathjen.
Janis is survived by daughters, Kimberly (Duane) Ritter of Bellefontaine and Debbie (Dennis) Brunke of Huntsville; stepson, Glen Goins of Athens; stepdaughter, Glenetta Goins of Chauncey; many grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; sisters, Ada (John) Knapp of Columbus and Rosie (John) Ash of West Virginia; and many nieces and nephews.
Janis was a homemaker and was a member of Christ Temple Church in Bellefontaine. She enjoyed shopping for the grandchildren, crocheting, painting, working crossword puzzles and spending time with and going to church with her dear friend, Lori Cowan.
A memorial service is at a later date at Christ Temple Church, with Pastor Kenner officiating.
