Mary G. Thompson, 90, of Lakeview, passed away early Sunday morning, April 6, 2014, at Mary Rutan Hospital.
She was born in Washington Township, Logan County, on March 14, 1924, to the late Harry R. and Buryl V. Morris Barnes.
On May 24, 1944, she married Cecil P. Thompson and he preceded her in death June 6, 2004. She also was preceded in death by a son, Thomas D. Thompson; and six siblings, Robert Barnes, Roger Barnes, Pauline Myers, Rose Jolene Murphy, Barbara Jean Barnes and Joanne Barnes.
She is survived by a son, Russell E. (Wanda) Thompson of Georgetown, Ky.; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Faye LeForge of Winterpark, Fla., and Brenda (Ronald) Gebby of Sidney; a brother, David Barnes of Morris, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
A 1944 graduate of Washington Local School, she was a nurse’s aide and retired from Indian Lake Manor.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Lakeview and Our Daily Bread in Lima. She enjoyed traveling, cooking and loved to visit with family and friends and to help others in any way she could.
Pastor William Zeller leads a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Shoffstall Funeral Home North Chapel, 115 N. Main St., Lakeview, with visitation one hour prior. Inurnment is in Walnut Hill Cemetery, New Hampshire.
