Gerald Kress Snapp, 71, of Quincy, passed away Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Bay Care Alliant Hospital in Dunedin, Fla., surrounded by his wife, Carol, and by his friend of 40 years, Sonny Sword.
He was born in Logan County on June 28, 1942, to the late Vernon and Mary Kress Snapp.
He married the former Carol Ewing in May 2001, and she survives, along with his daughter, Shelley (Victor) Bond; a son, Jerry Snapp; two grandchildren, Tyler and Brady; six great-grandchildren; two stepchildren, Tammy (Bryan) Henry and John (Jennifer) Engle; and seven stepgrandchildren.
A Riverside High School graduate, Gerald worked for Airstream, was a self-employed beekeeper and worked the Renaissance Festival, where he was known as the “Basket Man.”
He was also a member of Boggs Lodge 292 F&AM.
Pastor Keith Matthews officiates a memorial service at 6 p.m. Friday at the Daring & Sanford Funeral Home, 210 W. Hayes St., DeGraff, where visitation is two hours prior with a Masonic service at 5:45 p.m.
