Twila D. Nelson Wise, 90, of Russells Point, passed away Saturday, March 22, 2014, in Columbus.

She was born Sept. 28, 1923, in Santa Fe, to the late Edward and Lula McBride Nelson.

On Jan. 11, 1941, she married Harold R. Wise in Jackson Center and he preceded her in death in 1975. She also was preceded in death by long-time companion, Frank Longworth; sisters, Virginia Parr and Betty Smith; her loving son, Jerry Wise; and granddaughter, Jennifer Garland Scherer.

She is survived by two daughters, Judy (Fred) Garland of Westerville and Joyce Purk of Marysville; loving granddaughter, Gina (Garland) Scarver; grandson, Sean Wise; granddaughters, April (Purk) Lantz, Laura (Garland) Hartley and Darla (Purk) Keifer; 11 great-grandchildren, Brittany, Jacob, Cody, Courtney, Steven, Chris, Ethan, Hillary, Chance, Layla, Donathon; two great-great-grandsons; sister, Donna (Ronald) Robinson of Bellefontaine; and many nieces and nephews, including special loving niece, Carol (Ronald) Goings, who provided much of her care for the past four years.

Twila attended Stokes Local Schools in Lakeview and retired from Essex Corporation in Kenton, after 25 years. She was a member of Doyle R. Miller AMVETS Post 39 and Indian Lake Women of the Moose Chapter 452, both of Lakeview.

Many thanks to the caregivers, nurses, home health aides and other service providers who helped so much during the past few years of Twila’s long and special life. Thank you to special friends, Marty and Larry for taking such good care of her. We will all miss her wit, and her special and caring nature. She was a class act.

Visitation is one hour prior to a funeral at noon Wednesday at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview. Interment is at Pearl Cemetery, Anna, beside her beloved husband, Harold.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given in Twila’s name to organizations of the donors’ choices.
