Norman L. Sickles Sr., 66, of Russells Point, passed away early Friday morning, March 14, 2014, at Dayton VA Medical Center.
He was born in Kenton on Aug. 7, 1947, to the late Roy and Edith E. Claybaugh Sickles. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Larry Sickles and Rick Sickles.
He is survived by three children, Lynn Richardson, Norm Sickles, Jr. and Barb Norris, all of Louisville, Ky.; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a sister, Brenda Donegan of Marion; a brother, Craig Sickles of Belle Center; and mother of his children and special friend, Terry Sickles.
A 1965 graduate of West Liberty High School, Norm retired from the United States Army with 20 years of service including in Vietnam. He was a life member of Doyle R. Miller AMVETS Post 39 in Lakeview and was a member of VFW Post 1080 in Bellefontaine.
Norm enjoyed watching NASCAR, football, college basketball and baseball. He was an avid Cincinnati Reds and OSU Buckeyes fan.
Visitation is two hours prior to a funeral at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview. Burial is at a later date in Fairview Cemetery, Belle Center, with military honors provided by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
