Joanne Perkins, 86, of DeGraff, passed away peacefully at 11:38 a.m. Friday, March 7, 2014, at the Lima Memorial Health System, Lima, surrounded by her loving family.
Joanne was born in Van Wert on May 23, 1927, a daughter of the late Ralph Veach and Gladys Carlo Veach.
She married Art Perkins and he preceded her in death in August 1976. She also was preceded in death by one daughter, Jane Rogers Allen, in March 2008, one brother and one sister.
Survivors include two sons, Roy Rogers of DeGraff and Ray Rogers of Belle Center; grandchildren, Melissa (Glen) Salisbury of Sidney, Michael Parrett of Port Jefferson, Bryan (Lisa) Lump of Bellefontaine, Ryan (Gina) Rogers of Anna, Sharlon Conrad of Urbana and Elizabeth “Beth” (Matt) Murray of Anna; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She retired from the Copeland Corporation, now Emerson Technologies, in 1988. She loved spoiling her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and spending time with family and friends.
The Rev. Shane Jackson officiates a private graveside service Tuesday at Glen Cemetery, Port Jefferson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dorothy Love Retirement Community in memory of Joanne Perkins.
