Robert S. Wampler, 67, of Bellefontaine, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Mary Rutan Hospital.
He was born in Bellefontaine on April 23, 1946, to Katherine Reynolds Shirk, who survives in Bellefontaine, and the late Chalmer D. Wampler.
On Feb. 24, 1964, he married the former Karan Baker in Bellefontaine and she survives, along with a son, James (Jonnie) Wampler of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Michael, Katline and Becka Wampler; and his siblings, Beverly (Steve) Pence of Land O Lakes, Fla., and Russell (Nancy) Wampler of Marysville.
Robert worked for Miller Meteor in Piqua and H.K. Porter in Bellefontaine.
He was an Army veteran, member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union and a former member of Masonic Lodge 209. He enjoyed fishing, building model airplanes and took pride in remodeling projects at home, especially his basement.
Pastor Brad Angus officiates a service at 1 p.m. Friday at the Church of Christ in Christian Union, with visitation two hours prior. Burial is in the Highland Memorial Cemetery, with military honors by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
