Wanda Ruth Houchin Byrge, 71, of Bellefontaine, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 2, 2014, at her home surrounded by family and friends.
She was born in Bellefontaine on Sept. 21, 1942, to the late James and Ruth Irene Herford Houchin. She also was preceded in death by brothers, James Houchin, Fred Houchin, John Houchin; and sister, Anita Hooper.
On Dec. 20, 1994, Wanda married Eddie R. Byrge in Hazard, Ky., and he survives in Bellefontaine, along with her children, Amber Dawn (Rob) Kerns, Phillip Emery Houchin, Robert Lee Craig Jr. and Richard Eugene (Angela) Craig, all of Bellefontaine; stepchildren, Patsy Ann Byrge and Paula Kay Byrge, both of Wyoming, Colleen Reetz of Toledo, Eddie Daryl Byrge of Wyoming and Eddie Ray Reetz of Toledo; numerous grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sisters, Kay (Dick) Burchett of DeGraff, Linda Scherer of Bellefontaine, Angel (Mike) Shaffner of Quincy, Kelly Hart of Marion and Heidi Palmer of Trenton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wanda was a member of Vineyard Church of Logan County. She graduated from the Ohio State Beauty Academy in Lima and became an instructor. Wanda supported the American Red Cross as a blood donor for many years.
She was a notary and was known to open her home to many people who needed a meal or a place to stay. Wanda was loved by all and will be missed by her family and many friends.
A celebration of life is at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Robin and Brian Butler residence, 1726 Township Road 185, Bellefontaine.
