Leona Byler

Leona Byler, 74 years 8 months 30 days, of Belle Center, entered into her eternal rest at her home in Belle Center on Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014, after battling cancer for four months.

She was born in Hartville on May 27, 1939, to the late Leroy and Iva Raber Zook.

She married Paul W. Byler on May 23, 1969, in Hartville, and lived in holy matrimony 44 years 4 months 19 days. Her loving companion, Paul, preceded her in death on Oct. 12, 2013. She was also preceded in death by an infant brother and an infant granddaughter, Jewel Faith Byler.

Leona leaves to mourn seven children, Rebecca (Marvin) Huston, Jonathan (Susan) Byler, James (Lois) Byler, Iva Kay Byler, Philip Byler, Matthias (Deborah) Byler and Rachel Ann Byler; 21 grandchildren; siblings, Mary Emma Zook of Hutchinson, Kan., Wallace (Mary) Zook of Millersburg, Homer (Elizabeth) Zook of Uniontown, Lydia Ann (Wallace) Wengerd of Wagener, S.C., Sara Mae (John) Nisly of Hutchinson, Kan., Amanda (Abe) Gingerich of Free Union, Va., Miriam (Melvin) Mast of Lamar, Mo., Leonard (Mary) Zook of Jamestown, Pa., and Ruth (Roman) Schrock of Windsor, Mo.; and many extended family members and friends.

She accepted Christ as her Saviour in her youth and remained faithful to the end. She was a member of the Belle Center Amish Church.

The family wishes to express appreciation to all who were a part of Mom’s life. A special thanks to all who gave their time and effort to help with meals, being there with support and encouragement during Mom’s illness.

Visitation is from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Lloyd Gingerich residence, 4825 County Road 96, Belle Center. David Miller conducts a funeral at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Mahlon Coblentz residence, 7443 County Road 49, Belle Center. Burial is in the Amish Cemetery, Belle Center.
