Martha Louise Schweitzer, 85, of 1233 County Road 4, Quincy, passed away at 11:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 23, 2014, at her residence surrounded by her family.
She was born in Shelby County on Oct. 15, 1928, a daughter of the late Andrew and Louise Sneider Ott.
On Oct. 29, 1947, she was married to Charles Schweitzer, who survives along with six children, William (Judith) Schweitzer of Buckhamdam, Texas, Norma (Bruce) Terry of Sidney, David Schweitzer of Quincy, Virgil Schweitzer of Taylor, Texas, Stephen (Judy) Schweitzer of Pemberton and Joyce (Lawrence) Day Jr. of Maplewood; 17 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and two sisters; JoAnn Ludwig and Dolly Wilson, both of Botkins.
Martha was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia Korn; and three siblings, Marie Long, James Ott and Leo “Sonny” Ott.
Mrs. Schweitzer was a retiree of the Copeland Corporation. When she was younger, Martha enjoyed outdoor activities, such as fishing and hunting with her family. She also enjoyed gardening, crocheting, and most of all spending time with her loved ones.
A Celebration of Life gathering is from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Cromes Funeral Home, 302 S. Main Ave., Sidney.
