Donald Wayne Simpson, 79, of Quincy, died at 4:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at his home.
He was born in Champaign County on Jan. 8, 1935, a son of the late James Arthur and Mary Elizabeth Young Simpson.
On May 8, 1955, he married the former Goldie Jean Taylor in Urbana and she died Feb. 17, 1992. He then married Phyllis Jean Leiberick in Sidney on Aug. 23, 1993, and she died May 9, 1997. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Norman and Jack Simpson, and three sisters, Vanda Parker, Helen Osborn and Deloris Simpson.
Survivors include a son, James (Donna) Simpson of Panama City, Fla.; four daughters, Patricia Myer of Erin, Tenn., Mary (Jerry) Pope of West Liberty, and Karen (Randy) Hollinger and Debora (Tom) Mills, both of Bellefontaine; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
A molder, he worked at Sidney Aluminum.
The Rev. Kymberly James officiates a funeral at 11 a.m. Monday at Rexer-Riggin-Madden Funeral Home, DeGraff, where visitation is from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial is in the Greenwood-Union Cemetery, DeGraff.
