Caromel Homan, 84, of Ada, died at 4:35 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, in St. Rita’s Medical Center, Lima.
She was born Nov. 26, 1929, in Breathitt County, Ky., to Corbett and Mary “Maggie” Higgins Clemons and they preceded her in death. Her first husband, Jay Conley, died in October 1956. Her second husband, Dr. John Homan, whom she married Dec. 22, 1959, died in November 1982.
She attended McGuffey High School in Alger and had worked at RBM Manufacturing of Kenton and Kmart of Kenton. She was the proud owner of the C&H Dairy Queen of Alger. A nutritionist, she went to school for physical therapy and had worked as her husband’s receptionist at Dr. John Homan Chiropractic in Ada and Kenton. She attended the Victory Chapel of Praise Church in rural Alger. A Blue Star Mother, she was a charter member and life member of the Ada VFW Post 9381 Women’s Auxiliary.
Surviving are two sons, Allen Conley of Ada and John (Brandy) Homan II of Reynolds, Ind.; four daughters, Rosemary Powell and Janet Harris, both of Ada, Eleanor Estes of Reynolds, Ind., and Shelly (Bill) Baughman of Belle Center; 27 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Edna Judy of Mt. Cory and Opal Stacey of Stanton, Ky.
She also was preceded in death by a son, Gary Conley; two grandsons, Mark Conley and Adam Harris; five brothers; and one sister.
Funeral services begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Hanson-Neely Funeral Home, Ada, where calling is from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday. Pastor David Trusty officiates and burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Ada.
