Paul Robert Davis, 84, of Lakeview, passed away Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at his home.
He was born in Venedocia on March 31, 1929, to the late Arthur O. and Ella E. Baumgarte Davis.
On Jan. 31, 1964, he married the former Opal L. Gansheimer and she preceded him in death on Oct. 24, 2004. He also was preceded in death by two sisters, Dortha Gossard and Geraldine Smith; and three brothers, Donald O. Davis, Eugene A. Davis and Richard G. Davis.
Paul is survived by two children, John (Sadie) Fry of Columbus and Sally (Kent) Sryock of Oscada, Mich.; five grandchildren, Michael, Julie, Jeremy, Matt and Stacie; one great-grandchild; a sister, Mildred I. Wood of Spencerville; a brother, Ronald L. (Linda) Davis of Lima; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Jon and Kim Doughty.
Paul was a 1947 graduate of Lima South High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Paul retired from the United States Postal Service after 30 years. He was a member of the Indian Lake Moose Lodge 1533 and Logan County Friendly Senior Center in Bellefontaine. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and traveling, and was an avid sports fan.
Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview, where a funeral begins at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday. Burial is in Ferncliff Cemetery, Springfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation.
