Jerome Craig Hicks, 34, of Bellefontaine, passed away Saturday, Jan. 18, 2014, at his home.
He was born in Lima on April 16, 1979, to Clarke W. and Deborah S. Klopfenstein Hicks, who survive in Bellefontaine.
He also is survived by his children, Teia Hicks and Jerome Smith, both of Bellefontaine; sisters, Kerri (Alex) Arredondo of Findlay and Nikki Hicks of Bellefontaine; his grandmother, Helen Klopfenstein of Bellefontaine; a niece, Mahailia “Hailie” Adams; and close friends, Brenda Lyburtus and Russell and Tammy Wampler.
Jerome was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, the Rev. Earl E. and Clarabelle Hicks Sr., and maternal grandfather, Karl E. Klopfenstein.
He worked as an asphalt finisher at Chemcote in Marysville and had been a stamped concrete finisher. He enjoyed tinkering with cars and tools. Jerome took great pride in his work and he loved his children.
Pastor Jonathan Bull officiates a funeral at 6 p.m. today at the Eichholtz Funeral Home, Bellefontaine, where visitation is two hours prior. Burial is at a later date in Glen Cemetery, Port Jefferson.
