Robert E. Kindle, Sr., 77, of Belle Center, passed away Tuesday evening, Jan. 14, 2014, in his home.
Born on Nov. 28, 1936, in Hardin County, he was a son of the late Jack and Effie Legge Kindle. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Kindle; grandson, Anthony Charles Kindle; and brothers, Chuck, Elmer, Shorty and Wayne.
On June 8, 1990, he married the former Jona Holly in Russells Point, and she survives, along with a son, Robert E. Kindle Jr. of Belle Center; a daughter, Janet (Ron) Henderson of South Carolina; two stepchildren, David (Tammy) McKinney of Zanesfield and Krystal (Kiah) Cain of Columbus; five grandchildren, Robert E. (Amanda) Kindle III, Autumn Taylor, Cory Taylor, Tommy (Jennifer) East and Raymond East; five stepgrandchildren, Owen Cain, Clara Cain and Cody McKinney, Austin (Hannah) Daugherty and Brian (Casey) Daugherty; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Jack Kindle of Jackson, Ga., Mike (Pat) Kindle of Lewistown and Joe (Vicki) Kindle of Huntsville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a retired diver of the United States Navy after 30 years of service and served in Vietnam. After retirement, he worked as a salvage diver at the Navy Ship Yard in Virginia. He was a life member of the Doyle R. Miller AMVETS Post 39 in Lakeview. He enjoyed fishing, operating a CB radio and watching NASCAR and WWE Pro Wrestling.
The Rev. Scott Anderson conducts a funeral service at 1 p.m. Friday at Shoffstall Funeral Home, Lakeview, where calling begins two hours prior.
Burial is in Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty, with military honors performed by the Logan County Veterans Honor Guard.
